Rush Lake Trek is a great introduction to the trekking list in the mountains of Gilgit Baltistan. It is breathtaking trekking in the Nagar Valley of Gilgit Baltistan. Rush Lake Trek provides an ample opportunity to experience the Panoramic view of Karakorum peaks and mountain landscape. Rush lake trek is destined for one of the highest alpine lakes of Pakistan. The Turquoise Rush Lake is at an elevation of 4700m the highest in Pakistan and the 27 highest altitude lake in the world. Rush Peak is adjacent to Rush lake. Rush lake trek gives you an opportunity to see surrounding peaks that include Spantik, Malubiting, Miar Peak, Phuparash Peak, and Ultar Sar, and even K2 and Broad Peak also visible in good weather. To reach Rush Lake one have to cross lush green fields, meadows, mountain trails, and glaciers.
The trip starts from Islamabad, we fly to Gilgit city via flight above the mountains of Karakoram and Himalaya or drive through the exotic Karakorum Highway. From Gilgit city, we will drive to Nagar Valley neighboring the famous Hunza Valley. Hoper is the last village in Nagar Valley from where we will embark upon our Rush Lake Trek. The Baulter (Hopar) glacier is the beginning point of the rush lake trek. we have to cross two glaciers before ascending to Rush Lake and Peak. The Baulter or Hoper glacier and Barpa glacier. Ascending steep up and crossing the moraine of the glacier we will reach Shishkin. From here we will start trekking on another glacier known as Barpa Glaciers. After hours of trekking on the moraine of this glacier, we will reach Rush Lake. We will camp close to the rush lake and can endeavor Rush Peak and the beautiful landscape. Except for the glacial part, the rest of the trek is modest and essay. Rush Lake Trek is mostly on pastures where you can get to see herds of castles with mountain nomads.

Rush Lake trek is high altitude alpine trek. Participants must be in good shape to do this trek. Someone who does hikes regularly can undertake this trek without any reluctance. And if you are not accustomed to mountain trekking try to walk short days and cover a small distance during the trek. Pakistanis who have done hikes on the trails of Margalla Hills or any other trail in north Pakistan can find themselves eligible to undertake this trek. Foreign participants who are used to hiking in mountains above 2000m altitude can undertake Rush Lake Trek without any reluctance.
Arrive in Islamabad or Rawalpindi, where our team will receive you and transfer you to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a short orientation walk or visit a local market. In the evening, there will be a trek briefing covering route details, safety, and equipment checks.

Begin an early morning drive along the legendary Karakoram Highway, following the Indus River through dramatic mountain landscapes. Stop for lunch en route and photo opportunities at scenic viewpoints. Arrive in Chilas by evening.

Drive: approx. 10–12 hours
After breakfast, continue driving toward Hunza Valley, turning off the Karakoram Highway at Nagar. The road climbs steadily to Hopper Village, offering spectacular views of glaciers, peaks, and terraced fields. Final trek preparations are made upon arrival.
Overnight in Hopper Village.
Start trekking from Hopper Village, crossing Hopper Glacier and walking through rugged terrain surrounded by icefalls and towering peaks. The trail ascends gradually to Chidin Harai, a beautiful high-altitude campsite with panoramic views.

Trek: 6–7 hours
Today is one of the most rewarding days of the trek. Ascend steadily toward Rush Lake, one of the highest alpine lakes in the world. Upon reaching the lake, enjoy breathtaking views of Spantik (Golden Peak), Malubiting, Ultar, and Diran Peak reflected in the crystal-clear waters.

Trek: 5–6 hours
A rest and acclimatization day at Rush Lake. Optional short hikes to nearby viewpoints provide stunning sunrise and sunset panoramas of the Karakoram giants. This day helps with altitude adjustment and allows time to fully absorb the serene high-mountain environment.
Overnight camping at Rush Lake.
Begin descending from Rush Lake, retracing the route back toward lower camps. The descent offers different perspectives of the glaciers and surrounding peaks. Camp at a suitable lower altitude depending on group pace and conditions.

Trek: 5–6 hours
Complete the final section of the trek back to Hopper Village. After meeting transport, drive to Hunza Valley, where you can enjoy a hot shower and relax after the trek.

After breakfast, drive back to Chilas via the Karakoram Highway. Enjoy scenic stops along the way, including views of rivers, valleys, and mountain villages.

Drive: approx. 8–9 hours
Continue the journey back to Islamabad, passing through spectacular mountain scenery. Arrival in Islamabad by evening.

Drive: approx. 10–12 hours
Transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your onward flight to the next destination. End of the Rush Lake Trek Adventure.
